- The subcontinent, includes present day Bangladesh, Bhutan, India , Nepal and most of Pakistan.
- India is a kite shaped continent also know as South Asia

- Hindu Kush Himalayas-high mountain ranges over India's north border
- Ganges and Indus rivers deposit rich soil and fertile silt on land
- Indus river valley was home to first Indian civilization
- India was surrounded by Arabia Sea, Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal- travel made by these waters encouraged trade
Climate
- Tall mountains block cold north winds, create warm Indian climate
- Monsoons-seasonal winds
- Monsoons create India's rainy summer season-good for crops, but can cause floods
